T-Mobile G-Slate: Arrives April 20, $529.99 [updated 4/18/2011]

In January T-Mobile announced the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) based G-Slate with Google by LG. In February came hardware details and several device features. At long last, we have an official launch date.

The G-Slate, will be released nationwide April 20, 2011 and offered for $529.99 with a two year contract for current T-Mobile customers after a $100 mail-in rebate. 

In comparison with similar tablet products currently on the market, including the Apple iPad 2 and the Motorola Xoom, the G-Slate wins hands down on price and network speed. AT&T and Verizon Wireless offer the 32 GB iPad 2 for $729.99 and it runs on each respective company’s 3G network. Verizon Wireless offers the Xoom for $599.99 with a two year contract and it also runs on a 3G network. 

Loaded with a super-fast dual-core processor, a stunning multi-touch screen, 32 GB of internal storage and HDMI output, the G-Slate is a full home entertainment system on an 8.9” sleek, lightweight device. 

T-Mobile also announced several content partners for the device. With the new G-Slate, customers can access TV shows, magazines, games and more with the following pre-installed applications:

T-Mobile TV. Live and on-demand TV, including news, sports and full-length entertainment, plus full on-demand TV shows.

Need for Speed SHIFT HD. An award-winning racing game that combines the true driver’s experience with real-world physics, pixel-perfect car models, and a wide range of authentic race tracks.  Fully loaded on the G-Slate, the popular racing game is brought to life on the tablet with crisp HD graphics, and a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope.

Zinio eReader - The largest online newsstand, this e-reader enables customers to shop for, search inside, read, share and save digital content in new ways with more than 75,000 digital magazines from 26 countries.

Preloaded Google applications - Preloaded Google applications include Google eBooks and Google Talk, with access to over 150,000 additional applications on Android Market.
